Their idea, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) was –a reality television show featuring up-and-coming MMA fighters in competition for a six-figure UFC contract, with fighters eliminated from competition via exhibition mixed martial arts matches. It was pitched to several networks, each one rejecting the idea outright. Not until they approached Spike TV, with an offer to pay the $10 million production costs themselves, did they find an outlet. In January 2005, Spike TV launched The Ultimate Fighter 1 in the timeslot following WWE Raw.

Michael Chiesa

Michael Keith Chiesa (born December 7, 1987) is an American mixed martial artist. A professional MMA competitor since 2008, Chiesa was the winner of FX's inaugural The Ultimate Fighter: Live. He currently competes in the UFC in the welterweight division. As of December 12, 2018, he is #9 in the official UFC lightweight rankings. Chiesa was a standout wrestler at Shadle Park High School. Chiesa began his professional mixed martial arts career in 2008. He fought for several regional promotions in the Pacific Northwest, going undefeated in his first seven fights, before gaining an opportunity to appear on The Ultimate Fighter: Live reality show.

(born July 28, 1969) is an American businessman and the current President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which is the largest mixed martial arts (MMA) organization in the world. Under White's leadership, the UFC has grown into a globally popular multibillion-dollar enterprise. White was born in Manchester, Connecticut on July 28, 1969, the son of June and Dana White. He and his sister Kelly were raised by their mother and her family for the majority of their childhoods. He spent many of his early years residing in Ware, Massachusetts. He began boxing at age 17 and graduated from Hermon High School in Maine in 1987.

UFC 100 was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on July 11, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event was the most bought UFC pay-per-view of all time with a buyrate of 1.6million, until UFC 202 broke the record with 1.65million. The event included two championship bouts and a fight between the two coaches on the Spike TV show, The Ultimate Fighter. The main event was a rematch between UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. This championship unification bout occurred as a result of former UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture's year-long resignation from the promotion.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, founded in 1993 by Art Davie and Rorion Gracie. The organization was purchased from its parent company SEG in 2001 by Zuffa LLC, a promotional company owned by Las Vegas casino magnates, Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank Fertitta and managed by Dana White (current president of operations). World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) was purchased by Zuffa in 2006 and officially merged under the UFC brand on January 1, 2011. UFC was sold to WME-IMG in 2016, and WME-IMG changed its holding name to Endeavor in September 2017.

He was knocked out in the second round and, immediately afterwards, announced his retirement from MMA. On June 24, 2006, on The Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale, Couture became the fourth inductee to the UFC Hall of Fame, joining Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, and Ken Shamrock. After retiring from MMA, Couture became a regular broadcast commentator for UFC events and co-host of Before the Bell and After the Bell on The Fight Network. He appeared in the Rob Schneider movie Big Stan, with fellow mixed martial artists Don Frye and Bob Sapp. On November 17, 2006, Couture fought and drew with Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in a submission wrestling contest.

Cole Miller

Jeremiah Cole Miller (born April 26, 1984) is an American mixed martial artist, Who most recently competed in the featherweight division in the UFC. His nickname "Magrinho" means "skinny" in Portuguese. Before giving it up to train for MMA full-time, Miller was a standout baseball player at Mount de Sales Academy in Macon, Georgia where he was raised. He was also a member of Macon-based Team Praxis, under instructor Cam McHargue, before moving on to American Top Team. Cole's younger brother, Micah, was a professional mixed martial artist with the WEC promotion. Before turning pro, Cole was the Virginia-based, King Of The Ring 135 lb Champion.

Rogan began a career in comedy in August 1988 in the Boston area. After relocating to Los Angeles in 1994, Rogan signed an exclusive developmental deal with Disney and appeared as an actor on several television shows including Hardball and NewsRadio. In 1997, he started working for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as an interviewer and color commentator. Rogan released his first comedy special in 2000.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was expected to face Tony Ferguson at the event. However, Nurmagomedov pulled out of the fight on October 30 due to a rib injury and was replaced by Edson Barboza. Mirsad Bektic was expected to face Tatsuya Kawajiri at the event. However, Bektic pulled out of the fight on November 27 citing injury.
