The vast majority of video and images presented on goregrish contain extreme graphic violence, some being arguably classed as snuff movies, with videos such as the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs and Luka Magnotta criminal acts of murder being freely available to view there. The site is believed to be an offshoot of the now defunct Uncoverreality.com shock website, with many former members presently residing there.

Rotten.com was a shock site with the tagline "An archive of disturbing illustration," active from 1996 to 2012. It was devoted to morbid curiosities, pictures of violent acts, deformities, autopsy or forensic photographs, depictions of perverse sex acts, and disturbing or misanthropic historical curiosities. Founded in 1996, it was run by a developer who called himself Soylent, via the company Soylent Communications. The site's updating slowed in 2009, with the final update in February 2012. The site was down as of November 2012. In late 1996, Soylent wrote a program that surfaced all Internet domain names that appeared in a dictionary, but were not yet registered.
goatse.cx (, ; "goat sex"), often referred to simply as "Goatse", was originally an Internet shock site. Its front page featured a picture, entitled hello.jpg, showing a naked man widely stretching his anus with both hands. The photo became a notorious surprise image and Internet meme, and has been used in bait-and-switch pranks, prevention of hot-linking in a hostile manner, and defacement of websites, in order to provoke extreme reactions. Even though the image from the site was taken down in 2004, mirror websites are widespread. goatse.cx had four sections, two of which had images noted for their shock value.
2 Girls 1 Cup is the unofficial nickname of the trailer for Hungry Bitches, a 2007 Brazilian scat-fetish pornographic film produced by MFX Media. The trailer features two women defecating into a cup, taking turns in what appears to be consuming the excrement, and vomiting into each other's mouths. "Lovers Theme" by Hervé Roy plays throughout the video.
Ogrish.com was a shock site that presented uncensored news coverage and multimedia material based for the most part on war, accidents and executions. Much of the material depicted was graphic, uncensored, gory videos and images. The content was depicted as a means to challenge the viewer, with its catch line being "can you handle life?", but later changed to "uncover reality" after the site received a major design overhaul with aims of becoming more open to the general public and become a respected "alternative news service".
Marek said that he had received testimonies from readers stating that viewing the images on his site had convinced them to avoid speeding, darting between traffic on motorcycle, horseplay with forklifts, even from committing suicide, and that the government itself recognized the utility of shocking images by requiring them on cigarette packaging. The site was founded on 31 October 2006, in part by the team behind the Ogrish.com shock site, which closed on the same day. LiveLeak aims to take reality footage, politics, war, and other world events and combine them with the power of citizen journalism. Hayden Hewitt of Manchester is the only public member of LiveLeak's founding team. Featured videos often involve graphic content of fatal accidents or shootings. Although by 2016, Liveleak had reduced its controversial content, the site frequently sparked up controversy up until around 2008, mostly due to its graphic and political content.

Joe Dolce released a version in 1981 as the follow-up to his international hit single "Shaddap You Face". It reached the top 40 in New Zealand and no. 7 in Austria. The band Rocky Sharpe and the Replays released a cover version of the song in 1983. Hong Kong singer George Lam covered this song in Cantonese in 1984. The song is called "丫嗚婆".
