Hutspot

On the evening of the 2nd October as well as the day of the festival, another traditional meal, hutspot (a dish made of boiled and mashed potatoes, carrots, and onions), is available.
The anniversary of this event, known as Leidens Ontzet, is still celebrated every October 3 in Leiden and by Dutch expatriates the world over.

The band is hailed as one of the best acts from Leiden; their song "3 Oktoberrr" is a perennial favorite at the Leids 3 October Festival (the triple r in the song title is a reference to the Leiden dialect, with its peculiar pronunciation of that phoneme ).
