Bharrat Jagdeo (born 23 January 1964) is a Guyanese politician who has been serving as Vice President of Guyana since 2020, in the administration of President Irfaan Ali.

The People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) is a democratic socialist, left-wing populist political party in Guyana.

Jagan resigned as president in 1999 due to ill-health, and was succeeded by Bharrat Jagdeo, who led the PPP/C to victory in the 2001 elections.

Donald Rabindranauth Ramotar (born 22 October 1950 ) is a Guyanese politician who was President of Guyana from 2011 to 2015.

The government announced on 28 April 2011 that Ramotar had been appointed to the post of Political Adviser to President Bharrat Jagdeo; previously Ramotar had held no official position in the administration.

Snap general elections were held in Guyana on 2 March 2020.

Following the development at the tabulation centre, on 14 March Mottley announced that, according to Stabroek News, "an independent high-level Caribbean Community team is [set] to supervise a full recount of the ballots cast in all ten regions at Guyana's elections based on an agreement by President David Granger and Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo."
