Chifeng, also known as Ulanhad ( (Улаанхад хот), Ulaɣanqada qota, , "red cliff"), is a prefecture-level city in Southeastern Inner Mongolia, People's Republic of China.

- Chifeng

Its capital is Hohhot; other major cities include Baotou, Chifeng, Tongliao and Ordos.

The second largest city was Chaoyang, followed by Chifeng.

- Rehe Province

The Autonomous Region was established in 1947, incorporating the areas of the former Republic of China provinces of Suiyuan, Chahar, Rehe, Liaobei and Xing'an, along with the northern parts of Gansu and Ningxia.

- Inner Mongolia

In republican era, Chifeng was under the administration of Rehe Province, along with parts of today's Liaoning and Hebei including Chaoyang and Chengde.

In 1955, the administration of the People's Republic of China divided the area between Hebei province, Liaoning Province, Tianjin Municipality, and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
