Menomonie is a city in and the county seat of Dunn County in the western part of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

Dunn County comprises the Menomonie, WI Micropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Eau Claire-Menomonie, WI Combined Statistical Area.

Together with the Menomonie Micropolitan Statistical Area (which includes all of Dunn County) to the west, the Eau Claire metropolitan area, forms the Census Bureau's Eau Claire-Menomonie Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a consolidated 2010 population of 205,008.

The county was founded in 1854 from Chippewa County and organized in 1857.

Pepin County was formed in the year 1858 from portions of neighboring Dunn County.

Dunn County comprises the Menomonie, WI Micropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Eau Claire-Menomonie, WI Combined Statistical Area.

These counties, combined with Dunn County to the west, coextensive with the Menomonie micropolitan area, comprise the Eau Claire-Menomonie Combined Statistical Area, with a 2015 population of 210,133.

The part of St. Croix County allocated to Wisconsin became the parental county to Pierce and Polk Counties, and formed significant portions of Dunn, Barron, Washburn and Burnett Counties.

State Trunk Highway 79 (often called Highway 79, STH 79 or WIS 79) is a 17.63 mi state highway in Dunn County in the west central part of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

Upon entering Dunn County, the route passes through rural terrain and enters Menomonie's west side as Hudson Road.
