A report on Heart Peaks, Level Mountain and Sheslay River
Much of the mountain is gently-sloping; when measured from its base, Level Mountain is about 1100 m tall, slightly taller than its neighbour to the northwest, Heart Peaks.
- Level MountainThe middle Sheslay River, above the Samotua River, lies between the Chechidla Range and Level Mountain.
- Sheslay RiverThe lower Sheslay River, below the mouth of the Samotua River, flows just south and west of Heart Peaks, part of the Nahlin Plateau.
- Sheslay RiverIt lies just west of the much larger Level Mountain shield and southwest of the Kawdy volcanoes.
- Heart PeaksThe highest elevation of Heart Peaks is 2012 m at a small peak roughly in the middle of its summit plateau while the regional elevation of the Nahlin Plateau is 1000 m. This indicates that Heart Peaks has a topographic prominence of at least 1012 m. More than 20 unnamed creeks flow from the volcano, which drain into the nearby Dudidontu and Sheslay rivers.
- Heart PeaksIn 1891–1892, the Hudson's Bay Company constructed a trail from the junction of the Sheslay and Hackett rivers to the southwestern slope of Level Mountain.

the Nahlin Plateau lies west of the Tuya River, north of the Tahltan River, southwest of the Sheslay River and southwest of the Nahlin River; both of the latter are in the basin of the Taku River, via the Inklin. It includes Heart Peaks and the Level Mountain Range, the latter of which is a cluster of bare volcanic peaks on the broad summit of Level Mountain.
