MRTA Yellow Line

The line starts at the intersection of Ratachadapisek and Lat Phrao roads where it interchanges with the MRT Blue Line at Lat Phrao station.

It will also connect with the future SRT Red Lines, future MRT Orange Line and future MRT Yellow Line thus providing interchange with most other mass transit lines.

The line then heads east along Lat Phrao road to Bangkapi junction where it will interchange with the Orange Line Lam Sali station, before heading south along Srinagarindra Road to Hua Mark where it will interchange with the Airport Rail Link Hua Mak station.

It will interchange with the future MRT Yellow Line at Lam Sali station.

Its symbol color is light blue., it can be transferred to MRT Yellow Line at Ratchada–Lat Phrao station in the future.

From Hua Mark the route continues south along Srinagarindra Road past Bangna-Trat Road all the way to Thepha Rak Road in Samut Prakan Province, then heading west along Thepha Rak Road before terminating at Samrong of the BTS Sukhumvit Line.

In future it will connect to the MRT Yellow Line.

In the future, it can be transferred to MRT Yellow Line at Phatthanakan MRT Station.

Other MRT lines are planned for the future MRT system with the MRT Orange Line, MRT Pink Line and MRT Yellow Line all currently under construction.

The line then heads east along Lat Phrao road to Bangkapi junction where it will interchange with the Orange Line Lam Sali station, before heading south along Srinagarindra Road to Hua Mark where it will interchange with the Airport Rail Link Hua Mak station.

The line continues southeast along Nawamin rd where it terminates at Ramkhamhaeng rd (soi 129/1), Lam Sali junction to interchange with the MRT Orange Line and MRT Yellow Line.

From Hua Mark the route continues south along Srinagarindra Road past Bangna-Trat Road all the way to Thepha Rak Road in Samut Prakan Province, then heading west along Thepha Rak Road before terminating at Samrong of the BTS Sukhumvit Line.

A future extension from Samrong across the Chao Phraya River to link with the MRT Purple Line at Rat Burana has been canvassed by OTP.

OTP has previously indicated in 2008 that a southern cross-river connection could be built between Samrong and Rat Burana either by extending the MRT Yellow Line or by extending the Purple line.

However, it was decided in 2012 to build an elevated monorail line in order to reduce construction costs.

The line was first proposed by the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) in 2004 as a heavy rail underground and elevated metro line as part of the 10 line metro plan which was taken to the February 2005 election.

In early December 2016, BSR Joint Venture (comprising BTS Group Holdings which owns 75%, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction - STEC, and Ratchaburi Electricity Generation Holding - RATCH), won the bid for the line. On June 16 2017, a contract was signed for the line with the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand and a consortium including BTS Group Holdings, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction, and Ratchaburi Electricity Generation Holding.
