In 2009, Petr Benda and Peter Vallo proposed a separate tribe, Triaenopini, for the genera Triaenops, Paratriaenops, and possibly Cloeotis, synonymised in a 2014 revision (Foley, et al) that elevated the family Rhinonycteridae.
