A report on Shangluo, Southern Shaanxi and Shaanxi

Shangluo is a prefecture-level city in southeastern Shaanxi province, People's Republic of China, bordering Henan to the northeast and Hubei to the southeast.

Shaannan or Southern Shaanxi refers to the portion of China's Shaanxi province south of the Qinling Mountains.

Part of the Shannan region of the province, it is located in the eastern part of the Qin Mountains (Qin Ling).

The other prefecture-level cities into which the province is divided are Ankang, Baoji, Hanzhong, Shangluo, Tongchuan, Weinan, Yan'an and Yulin.

The only exception is the Luonan County in northern Shangluo, which is based around the upper Luo River and is part of the Yellow River system.

The province is geographically divided into three parts, namely Northern, Central and Southern Shaanxi.
